If you are having a Halloween party or simply are looking to add some fun into your front garden for the little trick or treater’s this year, here are some quick and simple ideas to add the scary wow factor!
How to create a spooky garden:
- Add any statues or gargoyles from the back into the front garden along a path.
- If you have a garden arch at the entrance to your garden you can hang plastic bats and creepy spiders.
- Add a pumpkin with a scary face inside of your porch or near to your front door with a candle or tea light inside.
- Add an old witches broom to your porch for the evening.
- Let your lawn overgrow.
- Play eerie music into your porch.
- Make fake gravestones or crosses that would mark graves and add them to your flower beds, which are empty at this time of year.
- If you are having a Halloween party make sure you have sufficient outdoor heating for any smokers that may be attending. Depending on your party size one or two patio heaters should provide them with plenty of heat.
- Halloween lanterns can be strung at the back of your house or around a garden arbour or garden shed.
- The windows of your summerhouse can be covered in fake webs and the door be left slightly open with a witches cackle played on repeat to add a real scary factor to your back garden!
Halloween often allows you to meet many of your neighbours that you might not necessarily meet if you lead a busy life. If lots of children in your neighbourhood enjoy trick or treating make sure that you have plenty of sweets and treat’s for the little witches and skeletons to ensure that you do not end up receiving a trick! Do remember that not everyone enjoys the Halloween festivities and if your children are planning to trick or treat this weekend remind them to be respectful and not to plan too serious tricks especially on your elderly neighbours.
